2021 Zinfandel
Our 2021 Zinfandel is aging into a well-balanced medium bodied classic Zinfandel. It is fruit on the nose with elements of blackberry, licorice, spice, and vanilla. It was aged for 22 months in 70% new French medium toasted oak. The oak is providing the notes of vanilla and tannins that are present in the wine.

Light on the eye and fruit forward on the nose, the aromatics have hints of plum and cherry, with lively expressive notes of spice and a touch of vanilla. Temperatures were in the sweet spot of 45 degrees to 95 degrees most of the season. This enabled the fruit to ripen slowly on the vines maximizing the concentrations of flavor in the berries while delivering optimum sugar and acid concentration. 100% Cabernet Franc produced from a 3 barrel 180 gallon fermentation of grapes grown on the Steel City Cellars vineyard. Second year French Oak barrels were used for aging. This wine is a medium plus bodied wine with a deep rich color. Notes of black cherry, tobacco and star anise characterize this wine.

Family Reserve was produced after a family tasting where the family members chose the two best tasting barrels of the three, and blended half of each of those barrels.
